About
“Technology will never replace great teachers, but in the hands of great teachers, it’s transformational.”
– George Couros
What's important to me?
My family, being a life-long learner, inclusion, reading, my doggy, friendships, character, having adventures outside in fresh air, and making a difference in my job.

Would you like to know more?
On a more personal level:
I have a daughter with an Intellectual Disability and Epilepsy (it's a rare genetic abnormality and yes you can ask me about it)
Patience, inclusion, and diversity are important to me (see the previous bullet point)
I create t-shirt designs for people with disabilities and their loved ones
I love seeing previous students from when I taught because they tell me I was their favorite teacher, and it reminds me that I made a difference.
I care how people are doing and will often check in with them to let them know they are valued!
I genuinely compliment others because they may need to hear how great they are doing and it makes my heart happy to see people empowered and happy.
I always loved the toughest kids in the school because over time the bond we ended up having and the growth of their behavior and academics were beyond measure (still chokes me up thinking about them).
I'm funny (this is important).
I can wake-surf behind a boat if the right music is playing.
I am an avid reader and enjoy being part of a book club. Ask me about the murder mermaid book we read!
I am not a fan of Excel but I am about to be a pro at it because it bothers me every time I ask someone a question about it; because the answer isn't on YouTube or any other tutorials.
I enjoyed teaching my 2nd graders SEL because Maslow should always come before Blooms.
I "dress up" almost every day, not for vanity but to provide a consistent look to my students when I teach (trauma-informed strategy) and they feel uneasy if I change anything about my appearance. I also do it because it's a habit and it tells my brain I am ready to take on the day!
I am slightly competitive and had a wonderful dose of humility when I tried keeping up with my teenage sons on the slopes last winter. On a completely unrelated note, I just finished up physical therapy on my knee from a skiing accident last winter!
I have perfectionism issues that I am letting go of; did you notice how all of these sentences start with "I" except two? That bothers me but not enough to change how candid the responses are.
